Joint Resolution to Create DPRIT
Senator Joan Huffman, R-Houston, has filed Senate Bill 5 to establish the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT), aiming to make Texas a leader in dementia research and care. The initiative seeks to accelerate breakthroughs, ease the burden on families, and strengthen the state’s healthcare system. If approved by voters through Senate Joint Resolution 3, DPRIT would receive $3 billion over the next decade to fund research, expand medical collaborations, and drive innovation in prevention and treatment—boosting both healthcare and the state’s economy.
