Baylor University Opens ARKTOS Research Center to Advance Arctic Readiness and Human Performance
Baylor University celebrated the grand opening of its Arctic Acclimatization & Sleep Optimization (ARKTOS) Research Center, a first-of-its-kind facility designed to study human performance in extreme cold and high-altitude environments. The center features an advanced environmental chamber capable of simulating subzero temperatures and reduced oxygen levels, allowing researchers to evaluate sleep, cognition, and medical response in harsh conditions. ARKTOS aims to support both military and civilian teams by developing technologies and protocols that improve rapid acclimatization, decision-making, and overall performance in Arctic deployments.
