Dallas-based Colossal Biosciences acquired a rare moa egg and plans to return it to New Zealand, where the extinct flightless bird once lived. The egg will be placed under the care of Māori leaders and researchers to support cultural preservation and scientific study. The company is also pursuing efforts to bring the moa back through genetic engineering, with a potential timeline in the early 2030s.
