Colossal Biosciences has expanded its de-extinction work into a broader deep-science ecosystem, with Astromech, an AI-led predictive modeling company spun out of Colossal, reaching a valuation of more than $2 billion within nine months. Astromech applies AI and predictive modeling to biology, with models designed to anticipate evolutionary changes, disease risks, and biological vulnerabilities, while other ventures emerging from Colossal include Form Bio and Breaking. The expansion demonstrates how technologies developed for de-extinction are being applied to broader challenges in synthetic biology, conservation, computational biology, and environmental science.
