Island Pharmaceuticals is advancing development of its antiviral candidate Galidesivir through a collaboration with Texas Biomedical Research Institute (Texas Biomed) to support studies targeting Marburg virus disease under the FDA’s Animal Rule pathway. The partnership leverages Texas Biomed’s Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) research capabilities and non-human primate expertise to generate data supporting late-stage development, while complementing Island’s broader biodefense strategy and U.S. government collaborations. The program aims to accelerate regulatory progress for Galidesivir as a potential broad-spectrum antiviral and medical countermeasure against high-consequence viral threats, including Marburg and Ebola viruses.
