Island Pharmaceuticals commissioned a second GMP manufacturing campaign for its investigational antiviral Galidesivir, with the additional production expected to increase available supply to approximately 700–800 treatment courses by the fourth quarter of 2026. The expanded inventory is intended to support potential responses to the ongoing Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak, including compassionate-use deployment in Uganda under the WHO-recognized MEURI framework, while also supporting biodefense opportunities and regulatory development. Island expects the Uganda program to generate prospective human safety, efficacy, and virological data while continuing Galidesivir’s development as a potential broad-spectrum antiviral and countermeasure for Ebola, Marburg, and other RNA viruses.
