TCU Burnett School of Medicine Emphasizes Empathy and Communication in Medical Education

The Burnett School of Medicine at TCU welcomed its eighth cohort with a two-week Introduction to Medicine curriculum emphasizing empathy, communication, clinical skills, service learning, simulation, and research. Students are introduced to standardized patients, ultrasound equipment, Microsoft HoloLens virtual reality, and a newly launched Academy of Communication in Healthcare (ACH) Relationship-Centered Communication course designed to strengthen physician-patient relationships. The approach reflects TCU’s mission of developing Empathetic Scholars® who combine medical knowledge and clinical skills with compassionate, patient-centered communication.
