Students at the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU partnered with Thrive Reconstructive Surgery to assemble care kits for patients living with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), a painful chronic skin condition that can cause abscesses and scarring. The students worked with companies including Neutrogena and Cetaphil to obtain donated skincare products that patients can use as part of their daily skin-care routines and to provide additional support for people who may have limited access to medical resources. The initiative reflects TCU’s emphasis on patient-centered care, community service, and empathy while giving medical students an opportunity to directly support patients facing a chronic and often misunderstood disease.
