Texas Invests in Green Transformation of Southwestern Medical District
The State of Texas is contributing to a major project to revitalize the Harry Hines Corridor in Dallas’s Southwestern Medical District. Led by the Texas Trees Foundation and a coalition of partners, the initiative aims to transform the area from a heat island into a vibrant, health-supportive green space. The investment, secured during the 2025 legislative session, was championed by State Sen. Royce West and State Rep. Rafael Anchía, with additional support from Sen. Tan Parker and Reps. Morgan Meyer, Angie Chen Button, and others. The project emphasizes evidence-based design, sustainability, and improved public health through innovative urban planning.
