UNT Health Fort Worth Launches Forensic Nursing Microcredential to Expand Trauma‑Informed Care Workforce

UNT Health Fort Worth’s College of Nursing has introduced a new Forensic Nursing Microcredential to train registered nurses in trauma‑informed care and medical forensic services for survivors of sexual assault and interpersonal violence. Supported by a $1.5 million federal grant, the no‑cost program includes simulation, clinical practice, courtroom preparation, and a tuition award incentive to help expand the specialized workforce across North Texas. The initiative aims to address the significant shortage of trained forensic nurses and improve both patient care and legal outcomes for survivors.
