UNTHSC Professor and OU Professor Secures Funding for Smartphone Study

Dr. Scott Walters, Regents Professor at UNT Health Science Center’s College of Public Health, and research partners from the University of Oklahoma have secured over funding from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. The funding, extending through April 2029, will build on their previous work using a smartphone app to reduce alcohol use among adults experiencing homelessness.

The research is led by co-principal investigators Dr. Walters and Dr. Michael Businelle of OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center, with Dr. Jason Oliver from the OU College of Medicine joining this phase.
