UNTHSC Simulation Center Prepares Students for the Emotional Challenges of Patient Care
The Regional Simulation Center at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth provides a 16,000-square-foot facility where students can safely practice clinical skills in realistic settings. The center features 14 lifelike exam rooms, immersive virtual reality projection technology, and high-fidelity manikins that simulate breathing, blinking, and vital signs, offering hands-on patient care experience. Its advanced technology can recreate nearly any healthcare scenario, benefiting both medical students and experienced providers. For many students, training at the Simulation Center marks their first opportunity to perform as a doctor. This hands-on experience not only builds essential medical skills but also prepares students for the emotional challenges of patient care.
