UT Arlington Professor Honored for Science Education
Karen Jo Matsler's receipt of the 2025 Melba Newell Phillips Medal from the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) highlights her outstanding contributions to physics education and her dedication to supporting educators across the nation. Her work spans over two decades, advocating for improved access to physics education in high schools and leading the way in introducing quantum concepts at the secondary level. Dr. Matsler's Quantum for All initiative is particularly impactful. By providing high school teachers with the resources to teach quantum science, Matsler is addressing a critical gap in education. Quantum technology powers many aspects of modern life, but it is often introduced too late in a student's academic journey. Her efforts aim to give students early exposure to these complex topics, preparing them for potential careers in a rapidly growing field. AAPT, established in 1930, has a long-standing mission to advance the teaching of physics, making Matsler's award a reflection of her deep alignment with the organization's goals.UT Arlington Professor Honored for Science Education
