
UT Arlington Researcher Secures NIH Funding for Brain Disorder Studies
Dr. Xi Zhu, Associate Professor of Bioengineering Dr. Xi Zhu, associate professor of bioengineering and director of the Biomedical Research in AI and Neuroimaging Lab at The University of Texas at Arlington, has received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health. Her research integrates neuroimaging and artificial intelligence to advance understanding of brain disorders and development. As lead investigator on a study of PTSD, depression, and anxiety, Dr. Zhu is also contributing to projects on obsessive-compulsive disorder, the effects of maternal diabetes on early brain development, and additional PTSD research. By identifying quantitative biomarkers, her work aims to enhance diagnosis, treatment, and insight into complex brain mechanisms beyond traditional self-reported data.
