UT Southwestern’s Eric Olson Awarded 2025 Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize
UT Southwestern molecular biologist Eric Olson, Ph.D., has been named a recipient of the prestigious 2025 Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize in recognition of his groundbreaking discoveries in muscle biology and efforts toward novel treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The award, presented by Columbia University, honors exceptional contributions to basic biological or biochemical research and has historically preceded future Nobel recognition for many winners. Dr. Olson’s work includes identifying key genes involved in heart and skeletal muscle development and advancing CRISPR-based strategies that are progressing toward clinical trials. He shares the 2025 prize with fellow researchers contributing foundational insights into Duchenne muscular dystrophy biology.
