UTARI's Biomedical Technologies Division Releases Two New Publications

Dr. Muthu Wijesundara, head of UTARI's Biomedical Research Division, Announces Two New Publications. One was published in Disability and Rehabilitation: Assistive Technology titled “Smart Seat Cushion Feasibility Pilot Study: Automated Interface Pressure Modulation of Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury,”. The researchers investigated the feasibility and functionality of a novel smart seat cushion system designed for wheelchair users with spinal cord injuries.

The second publication: “Soft Robotic Bilateral Rehabilitation System for Hand and Wrist Joints” was published in Machines 2024. The study centers on a soft robotic exoskeleton designed to assist in coordinated movement of the hand and wrist joints. It can also facilitate bilateral therapy in conjunction with a motion sensor glove that tracks movement in the non-affected hand and wrist.
