UTDesign Teams Outshine Competition at Capstone Design Conference
Lana Vu and Michael Jost, ARBU Team Built-in CPR Backboard, Miguel Enriquez Salgado & Efrain Gutierrez UTD is excited to announce that two student teams from their UTDesign Capstone program have been chosen to participate in the Capstone Design Conference in Knoxville, Tennessee. Two teams showcased outstanding innovation and engineering prowess, distinguishing themselves among 17 teams from 14 prestigious universities across the United States and landed as national finalists at the conference. The ARBU (Automatic Rescue Breathing Unit) 3.0, presented by Lana Vu and Michael Jost. This non-electronic device delivers resuscitation breaths, offering the potential to triple the survival rate of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims with minimal training. The team's exceptional work earned them a remarkable 2nd place national award at the conference. Their team included Saad Akhtar, Nand Mehta, Jimmy Crisp and Jorge Castillo. The Built-in CPR Backboard project, presented by Miguel Enriquez Salgado and Efrain Gutierrez. Their pioneering design eliminates the requirement for inserting a rigid backboard before starting CPR, enabling quicker initiation of CPR and enhancing patient survival rates.
