UTSW Epidemiologist Receives Distinguished Scientist Award

Jiang He, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Chair Designate of Epidemiology at UT Southwestern’s Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health, has been honored with the American Heart Association’s 2024 Distinguished Scientist Award. This top recognition highlights Dr. He’s impactful research on reducing risks of cardiometabolic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes, and hypertension.  

A UT Southwestern faculty member since July, Dr. He has authored over 750 peer-reviewed articles with 170,000+ citations and served as principal or co-investigator on more than 50 NIH-funded studies. Over his 30-year career, he has mentored over 100 graduate students, postdocs, and junior faculty.
