Global Health Leaders Visit Fort Worth to Discuss Health Equity

Community health representatives from seven countries recently visited The University of North Texas Health Science Center (HSC) at Fort Worth as part of the U.S. State Department’s Advancing Global Health Equity program. Organized by the U.S. Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Meridian International Diplomacy Center, and the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, the visit featured presentations from HSC’s School of Public Health and Institute for Health Disparities, highlighting strategies for achieving health equity and fostering global collaborations.

DeSoto's Vision for Professional Park Dedicated to Life Science

Just 15 miles from BioLabs, Wildwood Development held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the new DeSoto Professional Park. This 80-acre business and professional hub marks a major milestone for the region and the DeSoto Life Science Innovation Core. The park will leverage Southern Dallas' rich healthcare talent, creating numerous jobs and offering a walkable, amenity-rich environment with green spaces, parks, and trails. City leaders and community members celebrated the project as a new era of innovation and opportunity for DeSoto.

Galderma Receives FDA Approval for Prurigo Nodularis Therapy

Galderma has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Nemluvio® (nemolizumab) for the treatment of adults with prurigo nodularis.
Prurigo nodularis is an underdiagnosed neuroimmune skin disease which is estimated to affect up to 181,000 people in the United States. This condition is characterized by chronic itch, skin nodules covering large body areas, and poor sleep quality. Given the significant burden on patients, there is a need for alternative treatment options that may effectively relieve key signs and symptoms of the disease.

NIH Lasker Clinical Scholars Program

This program offers the opportunity for a unique bridge between the NIH intramural and extramural research communities and contains two phases. In the first phase, Lasker Scholars will receive appointments for up to 5-7 years as tenure-track investigators within the NIH Intramural Research Program with independent research budgets. In the second phase, scholars will receive up to 3 years of NIH support for their research at an extramural research facility; or, the Scholar can be considered to remain as an investigator within the intramural program.
